Elliot Alderson has one week before Whiterose enacts her plan, after which she will have no use for Elliot and he will be killed. He attempts to find weak points in the financial network of the Dark Army by blackmailing a lawyer who facilitates their transactions. While attempting to follow up on a lead that the lawyer gave him, he is kidnapped and injected with a recreational drug in order to fake a death by overdose.
